Hiring someone doesn’t, by itself, change how an organization works. Strategic partnership needs different contributions from leaders, business partners, architects, service teams—and BRMs.
A CIO leading a strategic partnership has a different part to play than one focused primarily on service delivery. The same is true of other roles. People may need new skills, but they also need clear expectations, support, and room to work differently.
This course helps you make those contributions explicit and bring the right people into the transition. The aim isn’t to assess everyone’s competence. It’s to build shared commitment to what needs to change.
What we’ll work on
- Clarifying what strategic partnership would mean in your organization.
- Identifying the contributions needed from key roles—not just the BRM.
- Exploring how skills, behaviours, and responsibilities need to evolve.
- Recognizing where mandates, incentives, or access prevent people from contributing.
- Preparing a leadership conversation about shared commitments.
- Turning those commitments into practical steps within a transition plan.
We’ll use a contribution map to connect the intended partnership with what different people need to do. You’ll leave with a starting point to review with colleagues—not a plan that assigns them responsibilities without their involvement.

Format and duration
Live, instructor-led online, with discussion, practical exercises, and time to work through the contribution map and prepare the leadership conversation.
Six hours, including five instructional hours, one 30-minute break, and two 15-minute breaks.
