The CRAFT Foundation Course provides a foundational understanding of the CRAFT framework — Culture, Relationships, Acceptance, Focus, Trajectory — for executives and senior leaders who are evaluating or already launching a transformation. McKinsey and Gartner research both put transformation failure rates above 70%, not because of bad strategy, but because organizations skip the human and organizational fundamentals that strategy depends on. CRAFT gives leaders a shared, practical language for those fundamentals and a diagnostic they can apply the moment they return to the office.

This interactive, instructor-led course runs over 2 consecutive days (7 instructional hours per day) and uses a consistent rhythm in every module: a short lecture grounded in a real organizational story, structured discussion, a hands-on application of that element's tool, and a debrief. Participants work from a single live case throughout both days — their own organization — so that by the end of Day 2 they leave with a completed first-pass CRAFT Diagnostic, not just notes.

Prerequisites: There are no prerequisites for this course. Pre-reading Chapter 1 of The CRAFT: Five Fundamentals of Organizational Transformation textbook is strongly recommended before Day 1.

Program participants will be provided with:

• The CRAFT Textbook (electronic version)
• A completed first-pass CRAFT Diagnostic Worksheet for their own organization
• Their organization's actual Cultural CORE — and where it clashes with the aspirational one
• A relationship map scored with the TRC² model (Trust, Respect, Commitment, Communication)
• A sequenced 90-day action plan, starting at the correct point in the CRAFT Sequence
• A Certificate of Completion

Upon completion of the CRAFT Foundation course, you will be able to:

• Explain why transformations fail at the level of fundamentals rather than strategy
• Identify your organization's actual cultural CORE (Command, Optimization, Risk-Taking, or Engagement) versus its aspirational one, and the cost of Culture Clash
• Map relationships across the four layers using the TRC² model
• Place stakeholders on the Ladder of Acceptance and apply the See-Ask-Support-Invite methodology
• Apply the Brutal Filter to prioritize (and stop) initiatives
• Audit dashboards for metrics that are quietly working against stated strategy
• Determine where to start the CRAFT Sequence in your own transformation, and avoid the five most common implementation mistakes

Once you complete the course, you'll be prepared to sit the CRAFT Associate (CCA) Foundation Exam — a 45-question, 90-minute proctored exam administered externally — the entry point to the full CRAFT Certification Pathway (CCA → CCP → CCPro → CCM).

Pre-Work and Homework Requirements

Participants are encouraged to read Chapter 1 of the CRAFT textbook before Day 1, and — if desired — identify in advance the single transformation challenge they most want to work through, which may become their live case for both days. Bringing current dashboard/scorecard examples and a list of active strategic initiatives is helpful for the Focus and Trajectory modules.

Exam

The CRAFT Associate (CCA) Foundation Exam (45 questions, 90 minutes) is scheduled and proctored externally by the Certification Committee — it is not taken during the classroom session.

Recommended class size is up to 20 participants (tables of 4–5); larger cohorts may require a second facilitator.
